Feeling unmotivated during the pandemic, Kira decided to try CrossFit, looking for something new and a way to keep participating in a competitive sport. Kira grew up playing hockey and soccer and after high school spent a few years in the gym exclusively weightlifting. After not doing any conditioning for a while, CrossFit seemed like a good way to get back to being a more well rounded athlete while still building strength. Since joining Undefeated, Kira has found it a lot of fun learning new skills, hitting new PRs, but the best part has been making friends in the community.
Kira started coaching barbell classes in 2024 and soon transitioned to also coaching regular classes later that same year. It’s important that everyone feels welcome and able to participate in every single class no matter what your background in sports or current fitness level is. It’s highly rewarding encouraging people to challenge their limits and do their best, whatever that looks like for the day. And if there are exercises that aren’t an option for some people, as an athletic therapist, Kira enjoys finding appropriate alternative exercises or maybe even adjusting technique to make the movement accessible.
